It is very common right now for big consulting firms and software vendors to use the term “happy employees” in their advertising.

It is becoming a cliche for firms to say “Our employees are happy!” or “If you follow these ten tips, your employees will be happy!” The presumption behind the “happy employee” model is that employers can decide to make their employees happy by giving them nice things like flextime and bigger cubicles.
